Dog dies after being physically struck by District Dogs employee

A dog boarding at District Dogs in Navy Yard died Friday after being “physically struck” by an employee, according to a statement from the company Tuesday. The employee has been fired. According to a D.C. police incident report, the employee said he was feeding the dog at about 4 a.m. on Friday. The canine got “too energetic” and the employee tried to “calm him down.” He kicked the dog in an unknown part of his body, causing the dog to lose consciousness, the report said.
